and speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh of Armies, “Behold, the man whose name is the Branch: and he shall grow up out of his place; and he shall build Yahweh’s temple; even he shall build Yahweh’s temple; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule on his throne; and he shall be a priest on his throne; and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

Where this passage surfaces again, sorted by the strength of the link. Each kind of reuse — formal quotation, deliberate allusion, faint echo, figural pattern — carries its own mark. Follow any reference to read it in place.

Allusion1

A deliberate verbal borrowing without a citation formula.

Heb 3:1–6 ?

The fusion of house-builder, royal Son, and priest in 3:1–6 (the ‘High Priest’ who ‘built the house’ and rules ‘as a Son over his house’) coheres with Zechariah's Branch, who alone among the prophets both builds the temple and is ‘a priest on his throne.’ Low verbal volume and contested, but the king-builds-temple-and-is-priest pattern is the conceptual world Hebrews assumes.

Low confidence

Echo1

A fainter, low-volume reuse, carried by recurrence or thematic coherence.

Eph 2:19-22 ?

'The Branch... shall build the temple of the LORD' resonates with Christ as cornerstone of a growing holy temple. The messianic temple-builder oracle coheres with Christ being the foundation of the new sanctuary.

Low confidence

Figural1

A typological pattern re-read in a later text — no verbal quotation, high figural coherence.

John 2:13-22 ?

The Branch who 'shall build the temple of the LORD' may inform John's claim that Jesus will raise the temple in three days, identifying him as the messianic temple-builder. Coherence with the new-temple Christology supports it, but verbal contact is faint and the link contested.
